Welcome to Shishukunj MUN! It is a matter of great pride for me to be serving as the Secretary General for this conference, hosted by The Shishukunj International School.
What is it about an MUN that makes us research through the night? What is it about the warm committee rooms, the suits and the dresses that makes us rehearse alone, imagining the committee listening to us? What is it about the parliamentary language that eventually diffuses into our everyday conversations? It is probably the realism that sends a chill down our spine when a resolution is introduced.
Ladies and gentlemen, we must remember that the warm sunny days have just about come to an end. The sun is at the horizon and only a few rays of hope are left. It is now up to us to make sure that the future generations are able to see the Earth as a marvel of nature and not a wasteland. And hence, for this year‘s conference, we have chosen the theme ‘Redefining the Past and Defining the Future.’
'Learn from your mistakes' is not just a quote to be spelt, but a value to be brought into practice. The two historic committees - the Security Council and the United States Senate aim to reinterpret significant issues of the past
for there is a strange security associated with trying to relive the past. With one foot in the future and another one in the past, the delegates will realise the gravity of the situation and make decisions that are in touch with the consequences.
At the same time, we have the African Union discussing the exploitation of African resources, the All India Political Parties Meet discussing the issue of domestic terrorism, the SPECPOL taking up the East China Sea Issue, the Legal Committee
deliberating over the validity of the Doctrine of Responsibility to Protect and finally the Human Rights Council working to protect the rights of the Internally Displaced Persons - all those issues that have a significant bearing on the
future and that can potentially define the future.
I along with a team of highly dedicated and experienced individuals and our ardent passion for MUNs promise to deliver to you an experience that you shall cherish forever.

It gives me immense pleasure in welcoming you to the very first edition of the Shishukunj Model United Nations.
This conference is an endeavour of ours, which aims at gathering some of the best debaters and thinkers in the city and giving them a platform to discuss some topics which are pertinent issues in today's world. We bring to you 7 committees
under the banner of this conference, the agendas of which are in sync with our theme ‘Redefining the past and defining the future.’
The complete secretariat as well as the executive board members are hard at work to make sure that our delegates take along with them a bag full of memories and experiences that will better them personally and professionally. We are determined
to assure that your experience beyond the walls of your committee room will be as good as your experience within the committee.
